New version ideas

If you could have Gameplan built again from scratch, what elements would you keep the same and what elements would you change to improve the game?

The best part of the game for me is the way one puts together an advanced gameplan, that is the core of the system.

One possible improvement would be to make the playcalling and roster abit more linked, so for example your TEs ORO doesn't do any good for you if you are running S DW. ie when adding up your strengths when the play is calculated it only adds up the players in the formation. There will then be a choice between calling the plays you want and using the personel you have.
THis could lead to larger roster places (not necessarily roster totals) inorder to be able to run the formation you want with the personel you want though I think it might work with current roster sizes. Bigger rosters could lead to player specificity on plays (#32 runs for a gain of 2) and substitutions and injuries.

I'd also like to see training on formations, I like the idea raised a while back by Peter C about each team having a main formation with teams performing a litle worse when they start taking snaps in a D formation if they've been in J all year for example. Training could be useful in this way.

If you deviate from your main formation a little it is no big deal, but further deviations lead to loss of training or form or something.

I like the idea of defensive formations to be called seprately for each line in your GP, so if your oppponent comes out in a stretch you can bring on a dime package. I think this would be a nice addition along with 53 man rosters and squads/forms only counting if your man is on the field. This way you can have 4wrs on the field and 4cbs and 2 safeties for a real shoot out, this might open the defence up to the running game etc...
